HOW THE TRUE TONE TECHNOLOGY WORKS
After the iPhone and iPad, it is now MacBook’s turn to benefit from the True Tone display mode.
This technology adapts the color and intensity of the screen according to the ambient light, making it convenient for the user to read and type text, especially in a low-light environment.
Apart from the stock MacBook screen, True Tone also supports external monitors, namely, –
Apple Thunderbolt Display
LG UltraFine 5K Display
LG UltraFine 4K Display
Apple also unveiled some additional details on how this mode works on the 2018 MacBook Pro models.
Color changes will be made automatically thanks to MacBook’s multichannel ambient light sensors, located right next to the FaceTime HD camera.
Remember, this mode is not an alternative to Night Shift. You can use it alongside the Night Shift mode for an even better nighttime experience.
HOW TO ENABLE/DISABLE TRUE TONE ON 2018 MACBOOK PRO
Step 1 Open the Apple menu by clicking on the Apple icon present in the top left corner of your desktop.
Step 2 Go to System Preferences > Displays and then select the Display tab.
Step 3 Select the checkbox present next to True Tone to enable it. To disable it, simply click it once again. Alternatively, you can access this option by pressing the Option+Brightness keys.
Surprisingly, the True Tone option is available only in the Preferences section.
